#1 Dekh Bhai Dekh [1993]

Dekh Bhai Dekh is a sitcom which used to premiere on DD Metro and started airing in 1993.

The show is one which tickles your funny bones, and starred the best TV comics of the early ’90s, with Shekhar Suman, Navin Nischol, Farida Jalal, and Bhavana Balsavar leading the cast.

The story revolves around three generations of the Diwan family, who live together in an extended family in a bungalow which belongs to their ancestors in the suburbs of Mumbai. Clashes between these generations, living in a big bungalow and the daily issues that they went through, made this show a hit amongst everyone.

    #2 Hip Hip Hurray [1998]

    This show is a teen drama that is based on the life of 12th-grade students at the DeNobili high school and their fears, hopes, and adventures. It revolves around their lives, relationships and interactions.

    The cast features actors like Purab Kohli and Vishal Malhotra, who went on to become household names of the Indian TV and film industry.

    #3 Hum Paanch [1995]

    Hum Paanch is an Indian sitcom that aired in 1995 and is a story of a middle-class white-collar worker. He always finds himself in trouble because of his 5 daughters.

    The show was a huge success and helped establish Zee TV. The lead actors of the show were Ashok Saraf, Vidya Balan, Rakhee Tandon, Bhairavi Raichura and Vandana Pathak, who gained overnight success after the show.

      It featured 2 cats, who flew a fighter plane famously known as TurboKat, and fought against villians, while maintaining secret identities.

        Vikram Betaal contained stories from the Indian Mythology and aired on DD National. The concept of this show was based on Baital Pachisi, which is a collection of tales about King Vikram and Vetala, a ghost.

        The show cast Arun Govil as King Vikramaditya and Sajjan as Betaal, with Deepika Chikhalia and Vijay Arora in many roles.

          #6 Shaktimaan [1997]

          Shaktimaan is a show which bought many kids together and had a huge positive impact on them. The show gave India its first superhero and was a huge hit.

          Shaktimaan was the biggest show in the history of Indian television and it broke all TRP records.

                Banegi Apni Baat is a show which aired on Zee TV starting from 1993, and the focus of the series was on college life. The show revolved around teachers and students. The show showcased an urban college romance, heartbreaks, and ragging.

                Many college going students in the early 90’s became avid viewers of the show. The show gave many Indian TV actors, such as Irrfan Khan, Roshini Achreja, Shefali Chhaya and R.Madhavan a good break.
