The project is expected to cost around $10 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SpaceX\u2019s planned satellite fleet would be nearly three times larger than the number of satellites already orbiting Earth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, SpaceX\u2019s \u2018Starlink\u2019 project, has launched two test satellites \u2013 TinTin A and B into orbit on a Falcon 9 rocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a video on how the mesh routing in these satellites will actually work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Low Latency Routing in Space\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AdKNCBrkZQ4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the technical glitches, Elon\nMusk\u2019s privately owned Space Company; SpaceX currently in November 2018 got <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/document\/fcc-boosts-satellite-broadband-connectivity-competition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FCC\napproval<\/a> to deploy 7518 very-low Earth orbit broadband satellites,\nin addition to the 4425 satellites that were approved earlier in 2018. LeoSat,\nTelesat, and Kepler Communications also received FCC approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While satellite internet has been\naround for some time, it suffers from unreliable connections, high latency and\nspotty service areas. Musk, however, claims his project \u2018Starlink\u2019 is different\nas it is designed to provide global internet connectivity using a network of\nsatellites &#8211; an alternative to fiber optics, cable network and other\nterrestrial internet currently available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musk said that Starlink could give 3\nbillion people who don\u2019t have any type of internet access &#8211; especially in parts\nof Asia, Africa and South America \u2013 a much cheaper internet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But SpaceX is not alone in its quest to dominate the world with low-cost internet from space.
