In this renowned world of cricket, there are a few names who didn’t get what they deserved. Rahul Dravid is one of them, nicknamed “THE WALL” and “MR DEPENDABLE”, Dravid has been serving the Indian cricket for more than 15 years. He has been the unsung hero for the Indian cricket.

Though he is counted in one of the best players of the world but here are certain facts that either have been forgotten or they do not get much attention. Many of us know that he holds the world record for the most number of catches taken in Test cricket or he is the 2nd leading run scorer in Test cricket but how many of us know that he is the first and the only batsman to score a century in all Test playing nations or he is the only one involved in more than 80 century partnerships.

Most of his best performances have always been overshadowed right from his start of his career. His fighting 95 run stand in his debut was blown out by Ganguly’s 100 in the same match. Everyone remembers Ganguly’s 183 vs SL,Sachin’s186 vs NZ or Laxman’s 281 vs AUS but Dravid’s 145,153 and 180 in these 3 matches only didn’t get much attention. He has been the real backbone throughout.

He was the one who kept wickets to accommodate an extra batsman. In ganguly’s absence he led India to its first victory over Pak in Pak. His career best 270 run knock took India to a historic win over Pak.

Although tagged as “UNSUITABLE” for playing limited over cricket he went on to play and was awarded as the ICC player of the year 2004 and later became one of the few batsmen who surpassed 10,000 runs in the two formats of the game.

One of the fact which is never talked about is that in the 21 Test wins under Ganguly’s belt, Dravid is the one who averaged around 102.84 i.e., he alone contributed 23% of the runs scored by the team in these 21 test matches which shows the real class of the WALL, and not to forget the current running series in England when everyone is finding it difficult to face, THE WALL has stood firm and much stronger than before.
