For starters, she’s an Indian model/actress who has a strange karmic connection with Deepika Padukone

It is interesting that even after the presence of big stars like Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, the third actor in Homi Adajania’s Cocktail has managed to get everyone’s attention. She is Diana Penty, an Indian model. Most of the people didn’t knew her as she is not one of the struggling actors waiting for her big break in Bollywood.

But getting the role wasn’t a cakewalk for Diana. She gave two auditions before getting the role of Meera. Homi asked Diana to tone down her ‘perfect’ looks and be a little awkward in her mannerisms for the role.

The casting directors of Cocktail were searching for a new face to cast as Meera. Imtiaz Ali, co-writer of the script of Cocktail suggested them to meet Diana. The producer, Dinesh Vijan and director, Homi Adajania agreed to meet her. The producer mentions that, “I was in a rush to leave town, she was in a hurry to go for a photo-session, but at a glance, we felt that despite the perfect smile and polished looks, Diana was the shy, girl-next-door Meera.”

Diana earlier became a popular model when she replaced Deepika Padukone as brand ambassador for a range of international cosmetic products. It’s strange that again Deepika is involved in launching her career in Bollywood too!
